Letter from Sofia

Hello everyone. My name is Sofia Rose Carey and I’m getting ready to celebrate my very first Christmas. I am so excited! Mommy and daddy say that there will be lots of presents for me to open on Christmas day – and I LOVE presents. I am hoping it’s not a bunch of Star Wars toys though. Daddy doesn’t seem to understand that I’m too young still to get into Star Wars. I just lose interest right away when he starts talking about Yoda and how I too will grow up someday and become a powerful Jedi. Oh, and how we don’t like the Sith because they are really mean, blah blah blah.

The last 7 months have been full of wonderful new experiences for me. First I learned that if I cry loud enough, mommy or daddy come running to see if I need anything – even if it’s in the middle of the night. They must not like to sleep very much. I pretty much sleep through the night now but I tend to wake up early – and hungry. I then learned how to roll over. Mommy and daddy would put me on my tummy and I would just – roll over to my back. It was fun. Mommy and daddy really seemed to get a kick out of it for some reason, especially when I rolled back to my tummy after rolling to my back. I didn’t see what all the excitement was about but seeing them so happy always put a smile on my face.

After several months of drinking soy formula, I finally got to taste some food. Daddy was right – food is awesome! I’m not very fond of cereal but I LOVE peas, squash and mangos. I eat mushy foods twice a day now and it’s oh so good! You should see the fear in daddy’s eyes though at the mess I make while eating. Mommy says that daddy’s a clean freak and to just ignore him when he tries to teach me things like how to wipe my own mouth. Why should I wipe it when other people wipe it for me ? And I’m not talking about just my mouth, . Besides, these hands of mine sometimes have a mind of their own. I love to grab my toys and try to put them in my mouth – just to see what they taste like. They taste a little like these disinfectant wipes mommy uses on everything.

I am almost sitting up by myself now and I am also starting to crawl. Right now I am crawling backwards really well but I haven’t quite gotten the whole crawling forward thing down. I’m sure I’ll pick it up any day now though. The doggies have been teaching me in private how to walk on all fours. They are so good at it. They said that once I get it down, I’ll be able to crawl all over the floor in search for food scraps that get left behind. Of course clean freak daddy doesn’t leave food scraps around, but my 3 cousins sure do. I question the eating off the floor thing anyway. I’m not sure I trust anyone who drinks water from a toilet bowl and does poopies outside on the ground - but the doggies have been really nice to me and they are so warm and cuddly.

Daddy has been doing a great job at documenting my life up to now by taking lots and lots of pictures and some video too. Mommy keeps her blog updated with my recent achievements and photos. I suppose I should give her some mishaps to blog about too. Nothing too serious though. Maybe I’ll pee on daddy while he’s changing my diaper or giving me a bath. Daddy’s so fun to mess with too. I especially find it very amusing to start crying whenever he starts listening to one of his U2 cd’s. I’ll stop crying as soon as he stops the music and then cry again when he restarts it. It cracks me up to see the flabbergasted look on his face. Oh no, how can his daughter not like U2 ?!?!? Relax daddy, Bono’s cool – I’m just messing with ya. But just to give you a heads up, like mommy, I also think that purses and shoes are cool. And I’m not talking about the cheap purses that you suggest mommy buy at the Dollar store. I too will want the cool, EXPENSIVE, designer purses. In exchange, I’ll let you play your video games when I’m sleeping.

Auntie Jeanette has been watching me during the day while mommy and daddy are working. It’s fun at her house and I get to see my cousins. They seem to like video games as much as daddy. I really enjoy spending time with my family, especially my Grandmas. They know how to spoil a grandchild.

I enjoyed my first Halloween. Daddy made me dress up as Yoda. I mean seriously - couldn't he at least have done Princess Leia ?!? Maybe next year I'll get to eat some candy.

Thanksgiving was at my Aunt Jeni's house. Grandma cooked sooo much good food and of course I couldn't eat any of it. It was fun to see my cousins and family members. We hung out and played Rock Band on the Wii. Maybe next year I'll get to eat some turkey.

Well, mommy and daddy will be getting up soon so I better get off of their computer and get back into my crib. I’ve been really busy recently reading my Family Guy: Stewie’s Guide to World Domination book so I wasn’t able to get this letter done in time to send out with the holiday cards. I will try to post it on mommy and daddy’s Facebook page and send it out in an email. I hope everyone has a happy holiday and I’m looking forward to seeing you. Please be sure to visit my blog page to catch up on my recent adventures. May the force be with you.

Love,

Sofia

6 Month Doctor Appt

Sofia had her 6 month dr's appointment Saturday below are her stats:

Height: 27 inches (82th %)
Weight: 16lbs (41th %)

She had two standard immunizations and then we got her both the H1N1 and seasonal flu vaccines. She currently eats two solid meals a day and is working on sitting up unassisted and holding her own bottle. We removed her from her old daycare and she is now being watched by Jeannie's sister, this is working out much better! All in all she is doing really well and continues to be a joy for us.
