9/28/09 was day 1 CIO for Sofia. For her first three mths she slept like a champ and was down to one night time waking for mth 2&3. Well for the last month or so she has been waking ever two hours. We decided to try CIO since she will be 5mths next week. Last night was R.O.U.G.H. We laid her down drowsy but not sleeping. And all hell broke loose!! But we stuck it out! We went in at the 3 min, then 5 min, then 10 min mark. Then went in every 10mins. At 20 mins in James wanted to give in and get her but mommy said no way! We can't wake up 5-6 times a night continually and still work. We will end up killing someone or one another. Sofia woke up 4 times on night 1. The first time she woke up we did give her a 4 oz bottle, but there was no rocking, no paci and we put her down awake. Two of the other times we did the same technique as bed time and she fell asleep at the 30 min mark for one of the wakings and then the 10 min mark for the other. The last time she woke she put herself to sleep after a minute or two. She was then up for the day at 530..which she normally will sleep till 630-730...but Ferber said if they are up within an hr of normal waking time to just get them up so we did.

9/29/09 was day 2 of CIO for Sofia. We put Sofia down drowsy but awake at 8:30pm, she woke up at 9:20pm. I used the 5min, then 10 min, then 12 min routine. I was about to go in at the last minute of the 12 min part (she had been crying for 26 mins)...and she put her self back to sleep so I didn't go in at all! And she slept until 5am!!! I gave her a bottle, again she downed the whole 4 oz but she still looked tired to me. So I layed her back down awake...and she feel back to sleep with no crying at all till 7am!! So day 2 was a definite success.

9/30/09 was day 3 of CIO for Sofia. We put Sofia down drowsy but awake at 8:45pm, she woke up at 9:20pm. I was going to use the 5min, then 10 min, then 12 min routine. I went in at 5 min mark, pat on the head a couple "shush shush you're okay"...and she put herself back to sleep...And she slept until 630am!!!

9/31/09 was day 4 of CIO for Sofia. We put Sofia down awake at 8:30pm, she woke up at 9:20pm, cried for about 30 secs...and she put herself back to sleep...And she slept until 630am!!!

We offcially have a baby girl that STTN!!!! (sleeps through the night)

Four Month Doctor Appt

Sofia had her four month dr's appointment today below are her stats:

Height: 25 1/2 inches (90th %)
Weight: 13 lbs 13 oz (50th %)

She received two shots and one oral medication. Previously we had noticed that she had been favoring her left side after working on this for the last two months she can turn to both sides with ease and we don't see any future problems. :) She can roll from back to belly and belly to back. She is grasping objects held in front of her and cooing up a storm. She is a very smiley and a generally happy baby. In one month she will go back to have her ears pierced by the pediatrician!! Yay!

Daycare Update 8/31

Had a meeting with the daycare provider Monday, and she brought to light some issues she has been having with Sofia. When she isn't sleeping or eating at daycare Sofia is generally crying :(. She thought this might be just an adjustment to daycare or over stimulation from the other children, but hasn't really seen any improvement. She thinks this could be a lactose intolerance or milk allergy. Our first steps to resolve this is switching bottles at daycare. We were using playtex drop-ins at home but using Playtex Ventaire bottles at daycare. So Tuesday we switched to using playtex drop-ins only and the daycare provider said she definitely did see an improvement...yay!!! So our next step is to start the soy version of her current formula which we did today (Wednesday morning). We are also going to sit down with our daycare provider and make sure that she is giving Sofia enough attention, while we realize she won't receive the amount we would give her at home; we want to make sure she is happy at daycare and being well taken care of. Thanks for all the advice!
